Background

Kerrick Bachert is a Kentucky based-attorney law office. Kerrick Bachert  routinely represent clients in state and federal courts throughout Kentucky and offer a wide range of legal services to meet your needs.

Understanding the Problem

Before Kerrick Bachert even hired a product designer, they already implemented a design based on a professional blue-tone executed by an external consultancy. These mockups were created without any usability testing and had little consideration for the usability of the consumers.

I conducted research interviews with our primary users (account managers) to uncover any difficulties that they were experiencing with their current design .

My research encompassed:
  • Understanding the user goals and needs
  • Uncovering pain points with the existing user journey
  • Determining the success of the tasks measured

Results and Takeaways

Since the implementation of the new design of the rackcard, we have seen a significant decrease in the number of complaints lodged through the law firm. Additionally, I have received positive feedback from multiple users about the simplified configuration  and layout of the services they offer.

Some key takeaways from this project are:

  • Create a strategic plan to launch a new design. This helps deal with out-of-scope requests that could potentially derail the project and helps deliver a quality product in time.
  • User testing doesn’t end after development. Design is a constant iteration of improving the experience for the end user. Always find ways to collect and listen to your user’s and client’s feedback.
